Health alerts: Dengue cases reported in Singapore

Status: High risk. The diagnosis of more than 650 dengue cases in Singapore so far this year has prompted environmental officials to remind high alert in the local regions on 13th February 2008. At least ten people infected by dengue this year have come down with dengue hemorrhagic fever, the more serious form of disease, said the Health ministry. The National Environment Agency said that Singapore might be entering into a new cycle of epidemics known as Den 2 which is in circulation currently in local regions. The public were advised to remove all containers and clean out other spots where water stagnates and the mosquitoes breed.
