Swine Flu Health Advisory 4/29/09
***HEALTH ADVISORY***
Dear Clients,
As of today, there have been 91 laboratory confirmed cases in the United States; 1 case in Arizona, 14 cases in California, 1 case in Indiana, 2 cases in Kansas, 2 cases in Massachusetts, 2 cases in Michigan, 1 case in Nevada, 51 cases in New York, 1 case in Ohio and 16 cases in Texas1. One death has been reported in Texas, a 23 month old from Mexico who traveled to Houston to seek treatment. In Mexico, authorities have confirmed 49 cases of Swine Flu and suspect the number of cases of people experiencing symptoms has risen to more than 2,400 and it is suspected that the outbreak is the cause of 159 fatalities. The World Health Organization has raised the worldwide pandemic alert level to Phase 42.

Estimado cliente:
Hasta la fecha, se han detectado 91 casos de influenza porcina en los Estados Unidos; 1 caso en Arizona, 14 casos en California, 1 caso en Indiana, 2 casos en Kansas, 2 casos en Massachusetts, 2 caos en Michigan, 1 caso en Nevada, 51 casos en Nueva York, 1 caso en Ohio y 16 casos en Texas. El día de hoy se anuncio el fallecimiento de un menor de 23 meses en Texas. En México, autoridades han confirmado 49 casos de influenza porcina y se especula el número de casos de personas que presentan síntomas ha aumentado a más de 2,400 y se sospecha que el brote ha sido la causa de 159 fallecimientos. La Organización Mundial de la Salud ha elevado el estado actual de alerta pandémica a la fase 4.

Dear Clients,
The U.S. Department of State has issued a Travel Alert to Mexico effective until July 27 2009 recommending that all nonessential travel to Mexico be avoided at this time. The following links will provide additional information:

As of today, there have been 64 laboratory confirmed cases in the United States; 10 cases in California, 2 cases in Kansas, 45 cases in New York, 1 case in Ohio and 6 cases in Texas. No deaths have been reported in any of these cases1. In Mexico, the number of cases has risen to more than 1,600 and it is suspected that the outbreak is the cause of 152 fatalities. The World Health Organization has raised the worldwide pandemic alert level to Phase 42.

Dear Clients,
As you may have heard, there has been an outbreak of Swine Flu H5N1 in Mexico. There have been quite a few ill people and a number of deaths. So far, there have been 7 cases in California, 2 cases in Kansas, 8 cases in New York, 1 case in Ohio and 2 cases in Texas1. This message is to let you know that routine precautions, as with any flu concern are being recommended for people in affected areas or possibly traveling to or from these areas. In addition, though not officially confirmed, airports in Mexico are screening passengers for any symptoms of the disease and not allowing any such identified persons to travel. The military has been activated to help control any spread.

Status: High risk. The Ministry of Health has confirmed that cholera has hit Kampala district again. Six patients have been admitted at the cholera isolation camp in Mulago Hospital.

Health alerts: Unknown form of plague disease kills 5 people in Democratic Republic of the Congo
Status: Medium risk. A deadly epidemic feared to be pneumonic plague has broken out in parts of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. An unknown disease similar to pneumonic plague has killed 5 persons since January 2008 in a locality of the Northeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo [DRC], according to the Ministry of Health.
